Glucose:
A simple
sugar;
the
form
in which
all
carbs
are
used
as the
bodys
principle
energy
source.
Glycolysis:
The
catabolism
of carbohydrates,
as glucose
and
glycogen,
by enzymes,
with
the
release
of energy
and
the
production
of lactic
or pyruvic
acid.
Glycolysis
is the
first
stage
of energy
production
when
there
is oxygen
available
(i.e.
aerobic).
When
the
cells
are
anaerobic
(meaning
without
oxygen),
this
results
in lactic
acid
production
and
build
up.
